Plagiarism Policy

Indonesian Journal of Administration and Health Research: Plagiarism Policy

The Editorial Board of the Indonesian Journal of Administration and Health Research firmly upholds the integrity of academic publishing and recognizes that plagiarism is unacceptable. To ensure the originality of submitted articles, we have established a comprehensive plagiarism policy that outlines specific actions and penalties for identified cases of plagiarism or similarities in submitted manuscripts.

Originality Checking

To detect similarities in texts, IJAHR utilizes Turnitin's originality checking software. We allow a maximum similarity index of 30% for submitted papers. If a manuscript exceeds this threshold, it will be returned to the author for necessary corrections and resubmission.

Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism is defined as the "use or close imitation of the language and thoughts of another author, representing them as one's own original work."

Policy Guidelines

  1. Originality Requirement: All papers must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere.

  2. Proper Citation: Any material taken verbatim from another source must be clearly identified through:

    • Indentation
    • Use of quotation marks
    • Identification of the source
  3. Fair Use Standards: Text exceeding fair use standards (defined as more than two or three sentences) or any graphic material reproduced from another source requires permission from the copyright holder and proper citation.

Levels of Plagiarism and Corresponding Actions

Minor Plagiarism

  • Description: A short section of another article is plagiarized without significant data or ideas taken from the original paper.
  • Action: A warning is issued to the authors, requesting text changes and proper citation.

Intermediate Plagiarism

  • Description: A significant portion of a paper is plagiarized without proper citation.
  • Action: The submitted article is rejected, and authors are prohibited from submitting further articles for one year.

Severe Plagiarism

  • Description: A significant portion of a paper is plagiarized, involving reproduction of original results or ideas from another publication.
  • Action: The paper is rejected, and authors are banned from submitting further articles for five years.

Author Responsibility

All authors are responsible for the content of their submitted papers and must read and understand the IJAHR Copyright and Licensing Terms. If a penalty is imposed for plagiarism, all authors will face the same consequences.

In cases of repeated plagiarism by the same author(s), the Editorial Board will determine further actions, which may include a lifetime ban on submissions.

Self-Plagiarism

Authors must identify previously published material when submitting new manuscripts. Permission from the original copyright holder is required for any reused text or figures. Significant overlap with another manuscript submitted simultaneously will be treated as severe plagiarism.

Special Cases

  • Conference Proceedings: Manuscripts originally published in conference proceedings must be identified, and permission to republish must be obtained.
  • Unpublished Presentations: Authors may use material from unpublished presentations in subsequent journal publications.
  • Translations: If a publication is translated from another language, the original title, date, and journal must be identified, and copyright must be obtained.

Enforcement and Monitoring

The layout editor of IJAHR is responsible for maintaining a list of authors subjected to penalties and ensuring that no banned authors are involved in submitted papers. If a banned author is identified, the Editor-in-Chief will take appropriate measures.

This plagiarism policy will be prominently displayed on our website, along with submission instructions, and a copy will be sent to authors upon the initial receipt of their manuscript.

By adhering to these guidelines, we aim to maintain the highest standards of academic integrity and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the fields of administration and health research. Thank you for your cooperation.
